The Samling Hotel

As Head Gardener Luke oversaw the design, planning, restoration, development and maintenance of the hotel’s large and diverse gardens at the edge of Windermere lake. The 67 acre estate contains a number of designed gardens and productive spaces including an oriental rock & pool garden, a white garden, kitchen and vegetable gardens (including micro-green production), an orchard, woodlands, ornamental lawns and borders; as well as additional gardens adjoining the buildings on the estate.

Driven by his love for the landscape, the site’s history and his vision to blend seamlessly the productive and the ornamental, Luke transformed these gardens and in doing so elevated the experience for all who visited The Samling.
