Who is the Fellside Gardener?

Luke Evans has spent the majority of his working life in The Lake District; caring for and enhancing a variety of gardens and landscapes. Working as a fully qualified Tree Surgeon, Luke moved into Horticulture after taking on the role of Gardener at the prestigious Samling Hotel on the shores of Windermere. After just three years in the role, Luke became Head Gardener. It was from there that he embarked on a series of ambitious projects to design and restore the hotel’s historic landscape gardens.

Now a Level 3 RHS qualified horticulturalist with experience in both design and execution of an eclectic range of gardens, including professional growing operations such as the Forestside Hotel in Grasmere, Luke continues to enhance his knowledge and expand his portfolio.

Living in the heart of The Lakes with his young family, it isn’t all work for Luke. The family allotment is a labour of love; designed and built from scratch, it now feeds the family with fresh produce all year round.
