Askham Hall Design Project
To obtain his certificate in Garden Design, Luke completed a project to redesign The Old Truffle Orchard at Askham Hall Gardens. The brief was set by Charles Lowther and Head Gardener, Colin Myers with instruction to redesign the above location. He was asked to take into account considerations such as the sites connection to the wider gardens, and the clients love of plants used by the prolific designer Piet Oudolf.
The client also specified the desire for features to be included, such as a viewing platform, drifting beds cut into grass and the use of trees and shrubs to provide winter interest.
A popular venue for weddings, the client articulated the need for this design to enhance the experience of couples and their guests visiting the gardens.
Luke presented his design as part of a digital presentation which included mood boards illustrating inspiration and theme, a planting plan, hand drawn concept design, design visuals and a final design.
